The Eruption Goddess

A Hawaiian Legend says that the eruptions of Kilauea were caused by Pele, a beautiful but a temperful goddess. She was the goddess of Volcanos. She made it erupt because of her frequent forces of anger. Pele was both feared & honered. Her power and adventures are mentioned in many Hawaiin songs and chants. Pele can cause earthquakes by stomping. She can also cause volcanic eruptions with her magic stick called her Pa'oe.

The Claim Of A King

The Hawaiians claimed that a wonderful king would soon rule the Hawaiian islands, and unite them together. They claimed that the sign of the king's birth would be a comet. Hally's comet was able to be seen in Hawaii in 1758. It is rumored that King Kamehameha was born shortly after. Other people have said that he was born in the year of 1737. It's most likely that he was born in 1758, because his son was born in 1797.
